March 22 2005 -- Skippy Snack Bars... OF PAIN!!!!!!

Well, maybe not of pain, but it's cooler sounding then Skippy Snack Bars... OF PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY!!

A week ago I was sitting somewhere in Las Vegas most likely drinking a good drink and looking at some of the most beautiful girls in the world. Now I am sitting here in pyjamas and a tshirt watching some dumb Bruce Willis movie and reaching the conclusion that my reviewing skills are about on par with a 7 year old. How do I know that? Well I gave this next product to a 7 year old and decided to let him do it for me. So, folks, here it is, a review done by a 7 year old. Well, sort of done by a 7 year old. He wrote down the main points of what he thought and I am going to tell you about them here.

Today we bring you Skippy Snack Bars, Peanut Butter & Jelly flavor! First off we must take a look at the box. What do we see? "Good source of vitamin E" If you have been a reader of this site you will have learned along with us that this means at least 10% of that vitamin or mineral, and what do we find here? The usual, the minumum 10%. Not really sure how that can be described as a good source, but hey, it must work if everyone out there is making those claims.

Onto the first thing Mr. 7 year old said. "I like the way the packaging looks. The colors look cool." Looks like Skippy has a good color scheme on their hands. Carrying over from their original Skippy Peanut Butter packaging the snack bars.

"The packaging opens easy" I guess that one is self explanitory and he was pretty much right. Packaging opened up nice and easy.

"It seems high in carbs. 23 carbs and only 6 protein" GAHHHH!!!!!! ATKINS HAS EVEN INFECTED OUR YOUTH! That makes me so sad. 7 years old and already worried about carbs. Pretty much unlimited sadness there.

"It tastes good. You can taste the strawberry jam. Not too peanutty. More like a snack for anytime of the day. Not like my dad's protein bars"

Well there you have it. The kids like it and I guess thats all that matters. By the look of the box and the kool (we use k's now because they seem to be hip) kid this is designed for someone of a younger generation, much like the 7 year old reviewing it. If I only were as hip as him, with my blue shorts and wild blue sunglasses.

Getting back to this thing one last time it's pretty much taking Rice Crispy's, putting "real Creamy SKIPPY peanut butter" on them, some jelly, and smothering it all in chocolate. Is it exciting? I didn't think so at first but over the course of a week and 6 bars later I actually started to like them. Now all I need to do is go out and try all the other flavors..

Peanut Butter and Marshmallow, Peanut Butter and Fudge, and then just plain old Peanutbutter. Maybe they will come out with some new flavors as time goes by. Ooo.. I have an idea, in the comment section give me some ideas for a new flavor. The winner gets a prize.

Oops, seems I forgot the cheese rating!

I'd give this one 4 out of 5 cheeses. I finished the whole box, found myself snacking on them in the car, and the 7 year old liked them.

I'd buy them again if there wasn't so much else out there for me to buy.
