April 24 2005 -- Not quite new, but good.

How about a quick little weekend review? Nothing too special but at least it will give you something to read.

Before I had plans this weekend I thought I would be coming home from work on Friday and settling into a nice routine of watching anime and playing videogames. As things would have it those plans were hijacked and instead of sitting in my room I went into NYC to see the Yankees game. What terrible seats we had, but at least they were free. I mean, second row? It's like I was a commoner. There were actually people in front of us, between us and the field. I guess it's good to have a taste of the common person life every once in a while though, helps you relate better to them. If it was the team I was reviewing then the Yankees would get a whopping 1 cheese. They stunk. Go from second place last year to last place this year. At least Matsui looked cute in his number 55 right in front of us. You can't quite see it in that blurry picture there but that number 55 does have some nice buns. The Japanese tourists were going crazy over him.

But that's not the meat of this review. Ha ha. Leaving the game and taking a train down to Union Square we came across one of the many Wendy's restaurants scattered across Manhattan. There I found the legendary sandwich that has everyone talking, the Mozzarella Chicken Supreme. I know it's a few years old but it's a limited time only thing and I had never had one before. It's a pretty heavy sandwich when you get it, there is a lot more to it then your standard McDonalds and Burger King burgers. The quality of the chicken is also top notch. Or maybe not top notch but fried crispy enough that you don't care. The lettuce was also good and crunchy, just like it should be, no flaccid greens here. The mozzarella was also a good addition, also a bit necessary given the name. In all I would have to say this is one of the better fast food sandwiches out there. Not quite as amazing as when I first had the Rodeo Burger at Burger King 7 years ago but it's better then most of the garbage out there right now, especially the Enormous Omelet Sandwich and the Apprentice Burger (which I would post a link to but the review was lost in the Second Great Server Crash of 78west).

This thing gets 4 cheese from me. It is a great sandwich and I would go back for more. Actually, when I finished it that night I was already ready to go back and have another one. Why not 5 cheeses? It didn't surpass the Rodeo Burger, that’s all, but that one set a high bar for me.

Ryan, however, gives it 5 cheeses. It's his favorite fast food food ever and nothing can compare to it for him. So for all those who want to see it get the 5 cheese rating, here you are.

Oh, and McDonalds in NYC delivers. How convenient. If only they had that here I'd have to move even less when I wanted a Happy Meal.
