July 18 2005 -- Part I - Pre NYC
|
Okay folks, are you ready for a week of excitement, thrills, and new products that will make your mind swirl? Well, if so head on over to The Impulsive Buy because you won't find any of that here. If you want to hear me rambling about some stuff I found on the streets (or in this case the office), well, I guess you are in the right spot. So, without further adieu I present to you the first in this week's series of reviews from NYC.

Lipton's Green Tea To Go Powder mix stuff.
So there I was, awaiting a fine lady at the PATH station in Jersey City. She was tired from a night of Harry Potter partying and I was sticky from sitting out in the heat. When she showed up she was carrying a huge bag and we had a long walk in front of us to get back to the car to drop it off. Maybe not a huge walk, but in the heat and with the bag it seemed like it. Upon arriving at the car Ms. Girl wanted nothing more then a nice refreshing drink of water.
"Oh, don't worry about that," said I, "I have these things I got from work we can try out."
Yup, I was trying to be the gentleman and offer her something good, something a step up from just plain old water. I figured I could start the day off right by giving her something brand new to try. Maybe she would be amazed at my collection of new products. Maybe she would be able to say "wow, I never had this stuff before, this is really good!" So she listened. Boy was she wrong for doing that.
Instead of getting a nice drink of plain old bottled water (should there be commas in there?) like she had wanted I thrust upon her a flavored concoction of fake sugar water, and unfortunately for her, it wasn’t the best thing in the world to hydrate her.

There they are. Please ignore the Dannon labels.
First up we have the mango flavor. Sure, mango sounds good, but when it's sugar free and in powder form? Well, it tastes fake. The drink itself had a nice dark color to it but the taste was so extra sweet and not good that it was promptly dumped in the garbage.
What's this other one we have? Honey something-or-other. How does it taste? Well, it tastes a bit better then the first one but still not something you'd really want to drink on a regular basis.
Man, I was so excited, too. Here was this girl I was going to be spending most of the day with and I the first thing I do is give her something to drink that she didn't quite like. After it was all said and done she had this to say about it,
"Don't waste your time".
Oh man. Was she talking about me or the drink? Not a very good way to start off a date! The pressure is on now, I need to make the rest of the night is a good one. Will it get better? Will our hero (me) end up with the girl or will she run away with someone who can give her something good to drink?
"Who buys powdered drinks to-go anyway? That should be for a pitcher of water at home, might as well just buy orange soda."
Oh, well that makes me feel a bit better then. Looks like she wasn't talking about me after all. But boy, what a diss to orange soda that was.
I guess you'll need to stay tuned and find out. But for now? 1 man in a cheese suit for this stuff, both flavors.
