September 12 2005 -- Ikea failed me.
|
What a day.
I woke up, sat around, took a nap, watched an episode of Prison Break, watched a little bit of college football, took another nap, woke up and ate some food.
At this point I was feeling pretty useless, even more so than normal. I had to get out and do something! So I did. In my car I hopped and away I drove. My destination? North Jersey. My goal? See a girl. Always a good goal if you ask me. But alas, that girl was in NYC and was not coming home as soon as I anticipated. So what was a boy to do while waiting for his girlfriend? How about the next big best thing, PatBoyX! Yup, instead of seeing my lady pal I made a right hand turn and ended up in front of PatBoy's house waiting for him to get into my car, and into my car he did get. It was an intense scene. I didn't even stop my car. It was like a scene out of an action movie. There I was, rolling down the street and there was PatBoyX, jumping into a moving vehicle. It was intense.
There we were, two men, one in a t-shirt, one in nice pants and a button down shirt. We were off to do exactly what men who still have sleepovers at 24 do, go to Ikea! Yup. Ikea. Two men holding hands strolling around Ikea shopping for bed sheets. How romantic. Before we left I checked on the website to make sure what I wanted was in stock. It was listed on the site so of course it had to be in the store, right? Yeah. I am sure. We get there and everything but what I want is on the shelves. All the colors, all the styles, heck, all the sizes, except king. For some reason there was nothing in king size. What a useless trip. Such anger. Drove all the way past the Newark airport for naught. Okay, well how about Bed, Bath, & Beyond? Maybe they would have something in stock. Well, they did, but unlike Ikea where the stuff costs $49, they had stuff for $150 to $200. Forget that. I'll just try Ikea again one day. For now my comforter will remain on the floor, naked and unused, much like PatBoyX most of the time.
Then came the phone call. My female friend had returned to Hoboken and was on her way home. Rush rush!! I had to get to her for an amazing night of fun and dancing. She said she would be home in 20 minutes and I was at least a half hour away. I had to move quick to keep from being late. Unfortunately my loyalties are with you, my faithful readers, and before I went to see her PatBoy and I stopped by Dunkin Dounuts for a purchace of a new product.

Dunkin Dounuts Steak Egg and Cheddar croissant breakfast sandwich.
Yup. A brand new breakfast sammich from everyone's favorite dounut shop. Being that I had not really eaten a thing for the entire day it was nice to finally have some hot food. It was new, it was fancy (cheddar is fancy! No American cheese here), and it was heavy. Yes, it was heavy. One of the things you will notice about this thing is that it has some weight to it. No light low calorie girly man food here.
But how does it taste? For that PatBoyX and I got back into my car. It was dark and the parking lot wasn’t too crowded. The bag was on his lap. he reached in and pulled out his meat. He slowly unwrapped it and brought it to his mouth and munched away. I did the same. There we were, two men munching on meat in a dark car. It was romantic. Did it taste good? Yes it did. Was it as good as the McDonalds Sausage Egg McMuffin? No, but I think I am bias towards that one due to me growing up with it. The croissant tasted good and crispy, warm from a toasting. The steak on the sandwich was nice and big, not skimpy at all. The egg was your standard fast food egg and the cheese was good as well. Very impressive, very basic, but it was still impressive.
So that's that. I ate it, I was happy with it, and I was off to see my lady. Somehow I managed to get to her house before her, apparently she and her family got lost somewhere between Hoboken and her house. Ahh well, gave me a chance to have a beer with her dad.
4 cheeses. I'd eat it again. It's my favorite breakfast sandwich at Dunkin Dounuts at the moment. Dukin Dounuts Steak, Egg, and cheddar croissant.
