September 20 2005 -- Worse then Rahway? Well now that the show Prison Break is in full swing on FOX I figure it's a good day to let everyone see what a prison here in New Jersey looks like. Okay, so it might not really be a prison but its dirtier and less inviting then a prison so We have named it prison. Less food than a prison too, a common meal in this place consists of bread and water from a filthy kitchen. Unlike prison it's not even free, well, prison isn't free either for us tax payers, but in this case prison is a privately owned condo in Jersey City costing a quarter of a million dollars. Before I go on let me ask you all this, what can that kind of money get you in your neck of the woods? Here in one of the hottest markets in the country it can get you a small dirty place in a not so good area of town.

Let's start the tour, shall we? Oh, and if you want to see bigger images of the real small ones just click on them.

Walking down the street behind the now infamous Ryan (yes sir, the same Ryan from the polls we have here), we come across a doorway leading into a building that looks just like every other building in the area, a couple stories high and made of brick. What mysteries are contained within? Is this a magical place of happiness or will it be more suffering like kitchen? With Ryan's track record I am going for suffering, if you knew him you would know that he does not like nice things and likes the bare minimum happiness.

The final door! What will we find inside!!?? We are only feet away from the next big thing and you here at 78west are getting the first tour.

Potpourri. Um, Ryan? Are we gaying things up a little bit? Sure, you could say that is from the who lived there before you but why would they take everything else with them and leave such a find collection of potpourri? We all know it's yours.

The first room you walk into is just what you would expect from Ryan, a bare room with no lights and various crap all over the floor, including a propane tank. Sure, there is a light up on the ceiling but it doesn't work. Will Ryan replace it or try it get it fixed? No sir. It's an extra useless cost that does nothing for him. The darkness is all you need.

Oh but what is that? Is that a deck? It sure is! Will Ryan use it? Will he make it a nice comfortable place for him to sit outside and enjoy the 'fresh' Jersey City air? Will he give himself a little bit of nature right in his own condo? Ha. Yeah right. Instead of any of that we find a dirt, soot, and cigarette butt covered wooden outside area. No one would want to be out there and that is just what Ryan wants. It's another useless feature of his condo and there is no reason to fix it.

Coming back inside and walking down the green mile we first come across the kitchen. It's small, it could be nice, but instead it's empty and has one hell of a filthy sink.

If the kitchen was cleaned up it would be quaint little place. It's tiny but its all you need. Unfortunately it doesn't quite function. Ryan got a new refrigerator and now he can't open his dish washer. The sink is also pretty disgusting but in the mind of Ryan, who needs clean sink? That would require effort and that effort is useless. Why bother having a clean sink if you just put dirty things into it? The cabinets are also empty. Food? Who needs it?

The bathroom is next. It's small, the tub is filthy, and once again useless to Ryan's existence.

And now for the cell itself. At the end of the green mile (or maybe it's the start?) sits Ryan's bedroom. This is the place where the magic happens. It's where he sleeps where he works and where he loves. It's where is laptop is and most everything he owns. Is it a nice room? Is it made into a place where he can be proud of? Take a guess..

Yeah, no. There is a bed and there is a floor. What more does he need? Oh, I know, a beach chair.

He does have Nunzilla next to his computer speakers (purchased the day these pictures were taken) so I guess that almost makes it livable.

So there you go.

A tour of what a quarter of a million dollars can get you here in New Jersey. Overpriced? Maybe, but compared to other places he could of gone he got a pretty good deal. All he needs now is a little bit of cleaning up and he'd have a nice place. For now it's a prison, no creature comforts, no food, nothing is clean. If it wasn’t for the internet connection the place would be a total pit of depression.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.
